Ajhriahna Henshaw is an educator, performer, and researcher in the field of contemporary singing. Her solo performance journey began at the age of six and she has continued to engage in music making activities throughout her life. Ajhriahna is known for her work as a gig singer in multiple contemporary styles and she has performed in small and large ensembles along the South-East Coast and abroad.
Ajhriahna discovered her true passion when she began teaching voice and this year marks the twentieth anniversary of her career in education. At Griffith Conservatorium, she mentors singers and singing teachers from diverse backgrounds, fostering the development of healthy and sustainable singing and teaching techniques tailored to their unique needs.
An emerging voice in academic research, Ajhriahna has recently completed her PhD research at Griffith University. Her inquiry focused on evidence-based training methodologies for contemporary singers, with a particular emphasis on cross-training. Ajhriahna is a passionate advocate for style inclusivity in vocal training and research, championing the idea that singers of all genres can benefit from open dialogue and mutual learning.
